Attendance

Regular attendance is essential for your child’s learning and success. If your child will be absent, please notify the school in advance (if possible) or within 5 days of the absence.
If your child will be absent for 3 or more consecutive days, they may qualify for Short-Term Independent Study. This allows your child to receive classwork from Snowline School District’s Independent Study Team and maintain achedemics and attendance credit during their absence.
Please note: Independent Study cannot exceed 15 days per school year per district policy. If you need Short-Term Independent Study, contact our attendance specialist at (760) 662-5650.
Please report all absences within 5 days, using any of the following methods:
- Text Message Only: (760) 881-4803
- Email: [email protected]
- Phone/Voice: (760) 662-5650
Please include the following information:
- Your child's first and last name
- Date of absence
- The reason for the absence
- Your name and relationship to the student.
Why is School Attendance Important?
- Starting in kindergarten, just 2 absences a month can cause children to fall behind in school.
- Missing 10% (or about 18 days) can make it harder to learn to read.
- Being late to school often leads to poor attendance. Later in life, a pattern of tardiness can affect employment.
- By 6th grade, absenteeism is one of three signs that a student may drop out of high school.
- By 9th grade, regular attendance is a better predictor of graduation rates than 8th grade test scores.
- Students can be chronically absent even if they only miss a day or two every few weeks.
- Attendance is an important life skill that will help your child graduate from college and keep a job.
